April 1 Event is Message to Hollywood - Inspire us again!

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- At the Historic Heights theater in Columbia Heights, Minnesota you'll see a movie poster displayed for "Dreamers Empire" and its scheduled for release on March 11, 2012. The poster shows a panorama of New York City with a predominant skyscraper in the middle and the reflection of a mountain against the glass. Besides the release date being over 3 years away there's another unusual thing about this movie poster, no producer, director or actors yet. The only name credits Dean Rice as the idea person behind this unusual display.

What started as an idea 17 years ago eventually brought Dean to the lobby of the Heights Theater speaking with owner Tom Letness, asking a very awkward question. "Here I was with a miniature version of my movie poster, a couple of custom movie tickets, and a strange question to ask. I was surprised at Tom's graciousness". Getting permission to display his poster at the theater was one of a number of hurdles to get by says Dean who, like the name of his poster suggests, is chasing a dream. Apparently the motive behind this unique plan was to give Dean a way to express what he believes many others are feeling about movies. "Movies have gotten increasingly dark, look at the last three Oscar winners for best picture, all dark. Somehow Hollywood has us believing that good performances are enough to make us trudge through dark and hopeless stories. What happened to inspiring movies like 'Ben-Hur' and 'Rocky'?"

So Dean hatched an idea designed to get a message to Hollywood. If you want to be among the first to find out how you'll have to attend a showing of 'Ben-Hur' on April 1, 2009 - 6:30 PM at the Heights theater. "I'm planning on renting out this historic theater once a year and have an inspiring movie shown starting with the story of Judah Ben-Hur, one of the most inspirational films of all time. Prior to the movie I will take a few minutes to explain why I chose this film on this day and how I think Hollywood can be persuaded to inspire us again."
