BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Officials at the second annual Labatt Blue Pond Hockey Tournament named divisional winners for the 2009 event. In the elite division, Cozumel beat out the Icemen eight to five to claim the championship. The Icemen came up short for the second year in a row. Other divisional winners include:

          Women's: Advantage Attackers
          Recreational Tier II: Rink Rats
          Recreational Tier I: Crickett
Intermediate Tier II: Buffalo Old Boys
          Intermediate Tier I: P11
          Advanced Tier II: Mustangs
          Advanced Tier I: Valore Books

The goal of the tournament was to provide a competitive, entertaining and nostalgic Real Hockey experience for local adult hockey players. Sixty-four teams competed, including eight women's teams, on 136,000 square feet of Lake Erie. Labatt USA worked with the City of Buffalo and Erie County to create eight man-made rinks.

"We wanted to create a real hockey experience for adults," said Peter Bodenham, director of marketing, for Labatt USA. "More than 400 players of various skill levels competed today. There were so many great games and the guys had a lot of fun playing outdoors. The weather made the ice challenging but that's part of the game. This is hockey out in the elements. We'll be back next year."
